Teaching children about the historical accomplishments and struggles of Africans benefits everyone. By connecting children with history, they’ll gain a better understanding of themselves no matter what color they are. And, they’ll learn to develop compassion for other people.
What it is about
Black History Magazine called Useni meaning tell me; originating from Malawi, Africa. This is a great way for young people to learn about their cultural history. Articles will be about African and Caribbean historical events, icons, scientists, inventors, sports people, music origins, and celebrity achievements around the world. Not just all learning but entertainment will be included such as cross words and educational games.
The aims for Useni are:
- The rationale behind the lessons being delivered by children is two-fold.
- To provide knowledge to children via their peers and;
- To provide an opportunity for young people to experience teaching, entertaining, and confidence-building while learning about their heritage.
Our aspiration is for Useni to be a lasting legacy for future generations and in time; for Useni to be managed and developed by the children, giving them a taste of entrepreneurialism.
